  • Charming family run hotel
    Date : 6- -0 2007 Time : 28 : 1
    Rating : Excellent

This is a simply wonderful family-run hotel. Sofia and Manolis were extremely welcoming - they couldn't do enough to help us and made our stay very enjoyable. The garden is stunning, we spent a lot of time sitting there and relaxing. It's like an oasis, and a lot of work has been put into it. The photos don't do it justice. The rooms are very clean and more than adequate. It's a 2 minute walk from the beach - which admittedly isn't the most beautiful I've seen, but fine to relax on. We will definitely be back here as soon as possible, I can't say enough good things about Pension Sofia.

  • My favorite place in the Greek Islands!!

Sofia Pension is one of the most comfortable and homey places I have ever stayed in my travels around the world. If you are looking for a clean place to rest your head and a family that will welcome you with open arms, stay here. I extended my trip by an extra day because the hotel was so wonderful!

I stayed in a small single room in the bed and breakfast. It came with a double bed, a/c, a television with mulitinternational stations including BBC World for those of you who like news, a safe with a personal combination, hair dryer, shower, toilet, sink, fridge and desk. There was plenty of room and it came with a balcony that also had a clothesline perfect for wet swim suits.

Breakfast every morning had fresh orange juice, cool water, hot coffee, sweet breads, brown and white bread with jams, butter and honey. You can reequest Greek coffee which I recommend since the owner makes it so well! Breakfast can be taken in the gorgeous gardens located all over the grounds. Flowering jasmine, apricot, lemon and olive trees will keep you sheltered from the sun and the scent of the wild roses bushes will waft over you.

You'll get fresh towels and sheets everyday plus beverages are available all day long in the kitchen. There are also books in many languages all over the hotel for those of you who forgot beach reading.

The hotel is a five minute walk from the beach as well as a 7 minute walk from the center of the Old Town and the famous Market Street shops. You'll be equidistance away from the Church of 100 doors, the oldest working church in Greece, and the historical center. The owner will pick you up and drop you off from the ferry boats so you don't have to worry about dragging your luggage.

Since this is an honest review site the only thing that was a MILD drawback was I found ants in my room when I brought some food home and left it out. And a few small black beetles snuck in from the gardens through my terrace doors. These things didn't bother me but some travelers might get edgy about that sort of thing. The hotel only supplies soap so bring your own toiletries too.

Overall, this was a lovely experience and I highly recommend staying here at least a few days on your travels around the Cyclades. You will find one of the warmest bed and breakfasts in the world! Happy travels!

  • An absolutely beautiful hotel.

My partner and I spent 2 nights in Parikia, the main town of Paros a couple of weeks ago. Sofia Pension is without a doubt one of the best and most beautiful places I have stayed in Greece, or anywhere. Sofia and Manoli are excellent hosts and clearly take pride in their hotel and amazing gardens which have to be seen to be believed. The hotel was clean, our room spacious with a sea-view balcony. The location was ideal for us as you are 5 mins walk from the main beach road, with many tavernas and livadi beach. However, it is located in a peaceful side-street so you avoid the bustle of the town. Manoli kindly picked us up and returned us to the port in his car. I would recommend contacting the hotel over the internet as we were given an internet rate which was excellent value for money. It really was a wonderful place.

  • Pension Sofia Just the Best!

My wife and I just returned home from a four week holiday travelling throughout Greece and without a doubt Sofia and Manoli , owners of Pension Sofia in Parikia, on the island of Paros, were the best in terms of hospitality and warmth. We only stayed one night in Paros and in such a short time we felt so welcomed into their space. The room was very clean and we enjoyed our balconey looking out to the harbour and at the back a spacious terrace where we thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. Manoli shows such pride in his beautiful garden and Sofia is such a gracious host. We appreciated Manoli's drive to the ferry in the morning. As far as value for dollar, I don't think you can do any better than Pension Sofia. We enjoyed our visit to Greece and one of our lasting impressions was the kindness and care of these two hosts who made us feel so "at home".
