The main reason people visit Paros is the beaches. The Aegean Sea, which laps gently along the sandy shore, is aquamarine in Technicolor -- warm, glittering and crystal clear right down to its rippled floor. The most popular are Golden Beach, on the eastern coast that is known for great windsurfing, and nearby Pounda Beach, nicknamed Music Beach for its DJs, dance parties and spring-break atmosphere.

Visited Paros two weeks ago. Traditional Cycladic island, small but the people are great and it is very relaxing. Lots of beaches. We have been going to the beach quite a bit - returned to Toronto with a bit of a tan. A great island for not doing much, just relaxing.

Paros in general allowed us to slow down, in fact, 'forced us' to slow down, and therefore appreciate where we were, and what we could see and feel. Too often holidays become a whirlwind affair, sending you home more stressed and tired than when you first started. Paros, in particular Parikia, gave us the opportunity to unwind, catch our breath, and renew our energy.

  • Marble-lous island...

Paros marble is world known for being the material from which many classical greek sculptures were made. But there's a lot more to see in Paros nowadays. From the delicious capital Parikia to the inner town of Lefkes and, if you are here in July-August, go to Petaloudes, a little valley where thousands of butterflies gather each year, covering all with color!!

My parents are Paros repeaters for the last 10 years. Last year it was the first time I followed their lead and found out that Paros is a very relaxing place. Nice beaches, calm weather, pirates, marble you name it... A great place to slow down, and enjoy the moment.

  • one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades
    Date : 2- -0 2003 Time : 14 : 1
    Rating : Excellent

Paros is the third largest island of the Cyclades, after Naxos and Andros. It is located in the heart of the Cyclades and its neighbouring islands are Naxos, Mykonos, Ios, Sifnos and Syros. Third in popularity after Mykonos and Santorini, Paros is considered to be one of the most beautiful islands of the Cyclades with the most exquisite beaches. It is a typical Cycladic island with traditional little villages full of whitewashed cubic houses with blue doors and windows, narrow streets, flowered balconies and squares, beautiful churches, lovely chapels, monasteries, a hilly countryside with endless vineyards, numerous hotels, restaurants and an exciting nightlife.
